Choosing The Right Foot Pain Treatment For Your Symptoms
Foot pain relief can come in many forms depending on what the cause of the foot pain is. Many suffer with pain their feet everyday and have not bothered to seek a real diagnosis for the pain. Today, it is important to get your feet checked out for the right foot pain treatment to begin. Many of the causes of foot pain can be misdiagnosed leading to the wrong type of foot treatments.
Choosing the right foot pain treatment begins with having the correct diagnosis. Once you know where the pain is coming from, and why the pain is there, you can begin moving towards foot pain relief. However, without really knowing the true cause of the pain, you could be using the wrong foot treatment.
1. Initial Pain Treatment
If you have just started to feel pain in your foot, caused by a sudden blow, twist, or other trauma the best foot pain relieve is found in the RICE method. When initial pain begins to form you should rest your foot, then put ice on the affected area for 20 minute intervals to help with the swelling and bruising. Next wrap it and use compression while elevating your feet and keeping them up without walking, or standing, too much.
Over the counter medication such as as Aspirin, Tylenol, or Ibuprofen can also help with foot pain relief, but is not a form of foot pain treatment.
2. Blister Treatment
There are times when you will contract blisters, or open sores due to athletes foot or other fungus, can will need to treat it before it gets too infected. Cleaning the area, and keeping it dry will help with the pain and healing process. Sometimes a simple puncture of the blister to drain off the excess fluids will cause it to go down and covered with a simple Band-Aid will heal it.
In the form of an open sore, or fungus, applying cream to the affected area and covering up to keep out any other contaminates will treat the sources of the discomfort and heal foot pain.
3. Medical Treatment
For more severe foot pain there will need to be certain medical treatments. A qualified physician should be one to both diagnose the cause of the pain and also prescribe the foot treatments. These medical treatments can take many different forms.
Surgical treatments are the most extreme, but are sometimes necessary in the treatment of severe breaks, deformities, and even diabetes complications. However, most of the time surgery can be avoided.
In office treatments such as casts and applications of braces can help treat the sources of the foot pain by immobilizing, or keeping in the right form. Physical therapy is also another from of medical foot treatment that is often prescribed for many people after a fracture, or some other posture issues.
Foot pain treatment can come in the form of things you can do yourself at home, or only through physician intervention. However, before any foot treatments seek out the correct diagnosis.
